Succulife;

A World On a Windowsill.

While I was visiting my parents last week, I went antique shopping with my mother; in hopes of discovering a unique item to use as planter. When I came upon this tiny antique gilded box, I knew it was perfect; and it wasn’t long until this cheerful little pachyveria glauca took up residence. I have to say, this may be my new favorite windowsill treasure.

I recently took a trip to my parent’s home in Southwest Florida. When I arrived, I was pleased to discover this beautiful display of chicks and hens at the entrance to their home. What they told me began as one small succulent quickly progressed into an arrangement so large, that it cracked the original pot they were displayed in. My mother has now replanted them in a clay planter perched atop a small decorative tricycle. It appears that succulent love runs in the family!

Just in case anyone noticed the early August hiatus; sorry guys, I was in Scotland! It was a first year anniversary trip for my husband and I that entailed living in a private castle for a week, touring Loch Ness and driving all over the country on the wrong side of the road. However, I didn’t forget about you guys while I was there! I found a little plant shop that sold the cutest succulents! If only I was allowed to bring plants back to the US. If only! On a brighter note, it did inspire me to put together a few new succulent creations. Pictures coming soon!

On a late night trip to the local pet store to pick up some dog food, I got a pleasant surprise. I passed by an entire stand of succulents on display in the terrarium section. I’ve been itching to add a crassula to my collection, and thought this little guy would be the perfect addition. Welcome home, baby crassula!

My husband made a trip to the local hardware store to pick up some pavers for our garden. While he was unloading the pavers into the car, he noticed this wee little leaf sitting in the bottom of the cart. He picked it up and noticed there was already the tiniest of succulents growing out of the bottom of the leaf. Knowing my love of succulents, he tucked the little guy in his pocket and brought him home to join my beloved windowsill. What a wonderfully unexpected little surprise.

What’s that peeking out of my teapot? I recently inherited this little succulent from a friend who wasn’t having much luck with him. He’s found a new home in a tiny white teapot on my beloved succulent windowsill. (I found that teapot on sale for a dollar at the local craft store!) Although a little sunburned and sad looking, I’m hoping for a full recovery from this little fellow.

I found this little sprout hiding out beneath one of my larger succulents. I made a nest-inspired planter to house him in, complete with an eggshell nestled in a bed of moss. Welcome to my window, sprout!

I rescued this little gentlemen from Walgreens today. He was calling to me from a small, sad display at the checkout counter. Again, unfortunately, he is unmarked, and while I’m guessing he’s a little aloe plant, I’m not positive. Does anyone have another idea as to what he may be?

I made a planter for this little guy out of an eggshell!
I painted the inside with a coat of clear nail polish, which made it feel a lot less fragile. I covered the bottom with a layer of small gravel for drainage, carefully tucked my little succulent inside, and patted some soil in around him.

Tiny terrarium! I made a tiny terrarium in a miniature goldfish bowl. It houses my two happy little lithops and what I’m guessing is a young graptosedum? Am I right? (This little guy was unmarked at the store.) Help me out here, guys.
